Veggie Santa

Course Appetizers Servings Ingredients 2 red bell peppers, sliced1 cup cherry tomatoes1/2 head cauliflower, chopped1/2 cucumber, peeled and sliced2 blueberries Course Appetizers Servings Ingredients 2 red bell peppers, sliced1 cup cherry tomatoes1/2 head cauliflower, chopped1/2 cucumber, peeled and sliced2 blueberries Instructions place cucumbers in middle of the plate in an oval shape for Santa’s face shape arrange the peppers to make his hat arrange cauliflower at the base of the peppers, to line his hat and at the base of the face for his beard line the cauliflower ‘beard’ with cherry tomatoes to show his suit. use a tomato for his nose, blueberries for his eyes and a pepper for his mouth

Course Appetizers Servings Ingredients 2 pkgs cream cheese1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded1 tbsp dried onion, minced1/2 tsp dry mustard2 tbsp parsley1/2 tsp hot sauce3/4 cup mozza cheese, finely shredded6 peppercorns1 shred of carrot2 blueberries Course Appetizers Servings Ingredients 2 pkgs cream cheese1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded1 tbsp dried onion, minced1/2 tsp dry mustard2 tbsp parsley1/2 tsp hot sauce3/4 cup mozza cheese, finely shredded6 peppercorns1 shred of carrot2 blueberries Instructions beat cream cheese, cheddar, dried onion, mustard, parsley & hot sauce until well blended roll cheese mixture into two balls, one slightly smaller than the other roll each ball in mozza and place the small one on top of the large chill for 30 minutes use blueberries for eyes, peppercorns for buttons & carrot for nose

Before Wean Green, Melissa spent a lot of time in the classroom as a teacher and has recreated a lot of the foods she used to see at her holiday parties. We’ve chosen our favourite holiday themed recipes that will be great in the classroom or on the dinner table. These recipes are designed to be fast and easy. If you don’t have the ingredients already in your kitchen you will be able to pick them up at your local grocery store. We understand the importance of getting those last minute holiday snacks into the classroom and still having time to wrap gifts:)! The best part is that you can get your recipes ready to go and pack in Wean Green or just throw your leftovers in Wean Green and store for the next day. Toblerone Shortbread Cookies

If you’ve never tried Toblerone chocolate bars then this recipe is a must for you! Print Recipe Toblerone Shortbread Cookies Course Snack Prep Time 25 minutes Cook Time 45 minutes Servings dozen Ingredients 2 cup butter softened1 cup super-fine sugar3 1/2 cup flour1/2 cup cornstarch2 bars toblerone swiss milk chocolate2 tbsp sifted icing sugar Course Snack Prep Time 25 minutes Cook Time 45 minutes Servings dozen Ingredients 2 cup butter softened1 cup super-fine sugar3 1/2 cup flour1/2 cup cornstarch2 bars toblerone swiss milk chocolate2 tbsp sifted icing sugar Instructions Preheat oven to 350F. Beat butter and sugar, in large bowl with the mixer on high speed until light and fluffy. Mix flour and cornstarch in a small bowl. Gradually add the dry mixture, beating well after each addition. Chop chocolate into small pieces. Stir in chocolate. Drop by tablespoonfuls, onto baking sheets. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 4 dozen. Let them cool completely and then sprinkle with icing sugar. Recipe Notes  

S’mores

Don’t have a fire going? S’more lovers do not need to worry! This is a great alternative to the classic s’more, as well it’s a great recipe to get the kids involved in. Print Recipe S’mores Course Appetizers Prep Time 20 minutes Cook Time 0 Servings people Ingredients 1 bag chocolate chips1 bag marshmallows1 sleeve graham crackerslollipop sticks Course Appetizers Prep Time 20 minutes Cook Time 0 Servings people Ingredients 1 bag chocolate chips1 bag marshmallows1 sleeve graham crackerslollipop sticks Instructions In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring a small amount of water to a high simmer. Place the chocolate chips in heat proof bowl and place the jar in the water. Stir until the chocolate chips are melted and then remove from water. Place the graham crackers in a Ziplock bag and crush into a fine crumb, then transfer the crumbs to a bowl Skewer one marshmallow onto a lollipop stick, dip it in the melted chocolate, then roll it in the graham cracker crumbs. Place the s’mores on a parchment paper to dry. Recipe Notes
