Recipe of the Week-Blueberry Melon Head (8+ Months)

Melissa, June 15, 2010

Blueberry Melon Head-NO Cook Recipe 1 cup blueberries 1 fresh melon 1. Cut your melon in half and take out the seeds. 2. Scoop the melon out of the peel. 3. Dice into small pieces or puree together in a food processor or blender adding breast milk or water as needed. 4. Pour/spoon into Wean Cubes. Remember to check the temperature before serving. Store the leftovers in the fridge for 3 days or the freezer for 3 months. Tip: Melon puree does not freeze well! We suggest cutting the melon into small pieces and freezing them that way.  If your weaner would rather have a puree, simply thaw the frozen pieces and then puree!

Flavor of the Week-Zoo Lunch Packs

Melissa, June 14, 2010

Okay, before I delve into the specifics of this super cute Skip Hop lunch bag, I must explain to all my faithful readers that I DO NOT have an addiction to bags contrary to all of my previous posts! Alright with my disclaimer out, let me introduce you to Skip Hops cute Zoo Lunch Pack!  I have the dog for the youngest weaner and I have been gifting the owl for the oldest weaner’s friends like crazy.  These insulated lunch packs can fit an entire package of Wean Cubes and a life factory water bottle!  There is also a little mesh compartment to keep the reusable napkin.  More? Well, the handle has a clip that can clip onto any backpack to make bringing to school a one step process.  Bottom line, they are super cute, affordable and useful. I got mine at!

Melissa, June 10, 2010

They are what they eat! This is definitely not hot off the press BUT it I still think it is important for parents to think about what their weaner’s are eating (and drinking!).  The Environmental Working Group published an article in 1999 about the levels of pesticides in produce and how those pesticides present themselves in juice.
